Working with Jay
BJL is the dinner. The work is the rest.
TRANSLATION ADVISORS
Bilingual STEM specialists
JDialogs is building a network of bilingual subject-matter experts — researchers, engineers, and translators who review technical translations in their field of expertise. If you have deep STEM domain knowledge and native-level ability in both English and Japanese, we'd like to hear from you.
The work is project-based, paid (1099 contractor through JDialogs LLC), and meant to fit around your real job. We particularly need help in: medicine and life sciences, AI & machine learning, mathematics, physics, engineering disciplines, and law. Boston-area preferred so we can occasionally talk over dinner — but remote works.
Not a co-translator role. Jay remains 監訳者 of record; advisors provide domain review and research support on specific titles.
Other ways to work together
Book translation
Publishers + authors with technical titles in Japanese↔English. Jay reviews mathematical/scientific accuracy at the supervising-translator level.
Inquire →Software & AI infrastructure
Small operations who need AI-agent infrastructure or language-learning tooling. Jay's JWorks AI surface, selectively taking projects that fit.
Inquire →Tutoring
Math, physics, programming, Japanese, English — for bilingual students from middle school through grad school. Boston in-person or remote.
TutoringJay ↗Boston walking tours
Bilingual walking tours of the city. For Japanese-speaking visitors, US-based families exploring Boston, or anyone who wants the version that's not in the guidebooks.
JayWalks ↗If you're already a BJL member, the easiest way is just to bring it up at the next dinner.
